Dawn Smith-Theodore - Dawn Smith-Theodore Dawn is the fierce founder of A Step in Time School of Dance. She was raised in Cincinnati where her mother operated her own studio for 55 years. Dawn has performed in Japan, Mexico, the Virgin Islands and throughout the United States. Dawn has appeared on television, commercials, and has performed with different theater groups. Dawn has most recently performed with her students at the Sydney 2000 Olympics, Fox Studios, Sydney, Sydney Wonderland, Carnegie Hall in New York City, and The Royal Caribbean Cruise Ship "Sovereign of the Seas." Dawn taught in NYC before moving to Los Angeles as well as guest teaching throughout the USA. Dawn graduated from Miami University in Ohio with a B.A. degree in psychology and sociology and from Antioch University Los Angeles with a M.A. in Clinical Psychology. In addition to dancing, Dawn works as a therapist at an eating disorder residential treatment center in Malibu.

Rebecca Castells - Originally from the East Coast, Becky has over 10 years of experience as a dance teacher and professional dancer. She is a member of the Screen Actors’ Guild, has taught acting for many years at The Kyer Workshop in Burbank, and has been in several commercials, movies, and TV shows. She has a B.A. in dance from Point Park University in Pittsburgh, PA, and began her long and fruitful career as a professional dancer even before graduation. She has worked with many esteemed choreographers throughout her career, such as Anindo Marshal, Sam Donlavy, Corey Burrell, Cati Jean, Neisha Folks, and Debbie Allen, just to name a few. She has been in countless shows of every style from modern dance to magic, and everywhere in between. Venues include Frontier Town, a western theme park in Ocean City, MD, Universal Studios in Hollywood, The Kodak Theater in Hollywood, The Alex Theater in Glendale, The Downey Theater, The Annenberg Theater in Palm Springs, The Stardust in Las Vegas, and Royal Caribbean’s Legend of the Seas. She has also been a featured dancer in numerous music videos, with artists such as Enrique Iglesias and Dynamite Hack. As for company work, Becky has been a member of The Marshall Dance Company and Can Can Cabaret. She was a principal dancer in Hollywood Ballet, and she was a principal dancer and soloist in The Donlavy Dance Company. From time to time, she continues her involvement with The Donlavy Dance Company as a guest artist and choreographer. Other favorite shows include Magic Redefined, with master illusionist John Gabriel, where she co-choreographed and toured Southern California to sold out audiences; Bandage!…The Rock Opera, a huge musical theater style production that she danced in and co-choreographed at The House of Blues in Hollywood, CA; The Queen Bees, a cabaret style show at Vamp the Lounge, on board the Queen Mary in Long Beach, CA; L’effleur des Sens, a critically acclaimed French cabaret show at the King King in Hollywood; and Luma, a movement and light show that performs in many different cities throughout the country and the world. In addition, Becky has enjoyed transitioning her career to the role of choreographer. She has choreographed many different shows, including A Chorus Line and Beauty and the Beast at the West Valley Playhouse, and The Producers, Willy Wonka, West Side Story, The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, and Children of Eden at the Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center. Her choreography has also been seen on TV, in Masters of Illusion on Los Angeles’ my network 13, and on NBC’s long running hit drama, ER. Throughout her professional career, Becky has always made time for teaching dance, specializing in ballet, pointe, jazz, lyrical, and musical theater. She continues to recognize the importance of working professionals passing on their knowledge, experience, and love for dance and musical theater to children and young adults.

Shaun Curtin Shaun is a faculty member of A Step in Time and is thrilled to be a part of the team. Shaun most recently appeared in The Radio City Christmas Show as well as a featured dancer on Celebrity Cruises, Disney World, and Busch Gardens. He danced in Salt Lake City for the Opening Ceremonies of The Olympics. He graduated from The University Of Massachusetts with a B.F.A. in Dance. His extensive dance training includes both The Boston & Joffrey Ballet.  Shaun was featured in "Shag With A Twist" at The LA Theatre. He also performed at Disneyland in Snow White and recently returned from Tokyo Disneyland.

Raul Mochorro - Raul graduated from the High School for Performing Arts in Houston. He received a full scholarship to the University of Arizona to study dance. He trained with The Houston Ballet, The Houston Metropolitan Dance Co., Julliard, and The Rock School of The Pennsylvania Ballet. He has performed at Jacobs Pillow in “Jazz Path to Broadway” as well as The Houston Ballet, The LA Opera. He has also appeared in American Dreams and danced for Wade Robson. He was most recently seen in “Shag With A Twist” in LA.

Danielle Van Aulen- Danielle graduated from Pointe Park College with a BFA in Dance. She was in The Don Levy Dance Company and was most recently in “Magic Redefined” touring Southern California. Danielle specializes in teaching Ballet, Jazz, and Acrobatics and sharing her love of dance with students.

Samantha Lee - Samantha graduated from Oklahoma City University with a B.A. in Performing Arts.  She has performed for the American Music Awards, Up Close and Personal Tour for Brian McKnight, as well as Beyonce Dancer for the NBA All Star Game.  She danced in Snow White at Disneyland and has appeared in many commercials.  Samantha teaches ballet, Jazz, and Hip Hop.  We are pleased to have her as an addition to A Step In Time. 

Marie-France Levesque - Born in Montreal, Canada, Marie-France began her ballet training at the age 7. In 1982, she joined Les Grands Ballets Canadiens, performing lead roles for 3 years. She received grants from the Canada Council of the Arts and from the Government of Quebec to study in New York and Bulgaria. In 1985, Marie danced the lead role in The Garden of the Heart, which was broadcast live on CBS National TV. That same year, Marie was recruited by Mikhail Baryshnikov to join American Ballet Theatre, where she danced for 11 years. Her repertoire includes several featured roles, many PBS specials on dance, and a host of guest-artist credits across the U.S. and Canada. Since moving to L.A. in 1996 Marie has been providing the highest level of professional instruction at studios such as West Side Academy of Dance, Southland Ballet Academy, and CSU Long Beach.

Nonny Price - Nonny Dawn Price has been studying dance since the age of 3, and dancing professionaly since the age of 14. Nonny obtained a B.A. in dance from Point Park University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She has worked for the summer stock theatre company, the Kenley Players of Ohio and has choreographed two world tours for pop sensation, Aaron Carter as well as two full albums of videos for thee pop sensation. She has toured as a dancer with Cher and Lou Bega as well. Nonny has appeared on the Grammy and Latin Grammy Awards with Shakira, as well as several music videos for various pop, country and rock stars. She has been seen in commercials for Taco Bell, Gap and American Express as well as her ownn interview on the TYRA show. Other credits include: Jay Leno, David Letterman, Ellen, and The Rosie O'Donnel Show.

Jenny Mullaney - Jennifer was fortunate enough to meet the love of her life very early when she started dancing at 4 in San Diego.  She trained in hip hop, tap, ballet, jazz, and lyrical.  As a teen she started competing, winning top honors at regional and national competitions.  She was also involved as a choreographer for her high school dance program.  She went on to UC Berkeley while dancing for Culture Shock Oakland and furthering her modern and contemporary repertoire through the UC Berkeley dance department and local studios.  Happy to return to southern california and pursue a commercial dance career as well as acting, Jennifer trains with top teachers in the industry at EDGE PAC.  She feels honored to have had the opportunity to work with AKON, Emminem, Unwritten Law, and Nikkole.  Her most recent role is a "bikini assassin" the film Samurai Avenger.  She is thrilled to be teaching at A Step in Time and hopes her own passion for dance inspires her students to keep dancing towards their dreams.

Desiree Duarte- Desiree recently moved back to Los Angeles after appearing on Broadway in Swing. She also was in the National Tour of Saturday Night Fever. She has been featured on The NFL Super Bowl XXIX and The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Desiree graduated from Santa Clara University with a B.A. in Theatre and Dance.

Colleen O'Callaghan- danced with American Ballet Theatre under the direction of Lucia Chase and Mikhail Baryshnikov. After leaving ABT, Ms. O’Callaghan received a Bachelor of University Studies degree from the University of Utah . Ms. O'Callaghan is currently theArtistic Director of Ventura County Ballet Company (VCBC), and, Director of curriculum for Ballet Academy Ventura (official school for VCBC). Colleen has been teaching ballet for over 25 years and has been a faculty member of the University of Utah, Ballet West, California State Long Beach, California Institute of the Arts, the Stanley Holden Dance Center, California Dance Theater, South Bay Ballet, Westside School of Ballet, Louisville Ballet and many other nationally recognized schools. For over five years she was the classical dance director for the Orange County High School of the Arts (OCHSA). Most recently she became a certified teacher for American Ballet Theater National Training Program © from Primary to Level 7. She is on the faculty for American Ballet Theatre summer Intensive programs and has had to opportunity to teach for American Ballet Theater's studio company and for the Jacqueline K ennedy Onassis School in New York City . She is the co-director and co-founder of American Ballet Intensives, a unique professional and positive training opportunity that brings the intensives and highly experienced teachers close to the dancers' home as an addition to their regular training.
